Our music boxes are available in a heart shape or round design. They are pill box in size and would be considered a large locket. They have to be large enough to hold a miniature music box.
- The music boxes are shipped in a satin jewelry pouch inside a black gift box.
- The music boxes are miniature 18 note movements.
- The heart shaped locket is 1 3/4" at its widest point, 1 5/8" in length and 5/8" thick.
- The round locket is 1 3/4" in diameter and 5/8" thick.
- All lockets hang from a 30” bronze or silver plate chain with a variety of clasps available.
- The locket itself is made from quality metal plated in silver or bronze.
The lockets like all of our jewelry is assemblage jewelry. The lockets are adorned with a variety of components that include, natural gemstones, rhinestones, brass or silver ox stampings, Swarovski crystal elements, glass opals and many other quality elements.
The front cover of the lockets that are adorned with many components are finished with layers of resin to permanently seal and maintain the beauty of the locket.
A tiny bit of history about music boxes. A music box is a 19th/20th century automatic musical instrument that produces sounds by the use of a set of pins placed on a revolving cylinder or disc so as to pluck the tuned teeth of a steel-comb. They were developed from musical snuff boxes of the 18th century and called carillons à musique.
The original snuff boxes were tiny containers which could fit into a gentleman's waistcoat pocket.
Following that design many music boxes have been made into jewelry one can wear or display to add to a music box collection.
